Dear Second Grade Families,
My name is Ms. Westervelt, and I will be your child’s second grade teacher at ICS this year.
A little bit about me- I graduated from Caldwell College (now University) with studies in music, education, and psychology. I have taught in various environments and all ages. Additionally, I have volunteered to teach CCD (CFF) at my Parish for 15 years. I also was involved in the music ministry at my parish for over 20 years. One of my most favorite and memorable experiences with my church family was going to Guatemala on a mission trip in 2009 to help bring water and supplies to many impoverished areas. What an incredible and life changing experience!
I love colorful things, especially pinks, blues, and purples. I have made sure to make my classroom as colorful as possible to reflect that. I have a 12 year old daughter who is in 7th grade at ICS this year. Together, we often go on bike rides, hikes, swimming, to the beach, and to Six Flags. Before Covid, I had planned on running 3 triathlons this summer. I have a dog, Raider, and a cat, Mozart.
Second grade will be a big year for your children. Along with continued studies in language arts, math, religion, social studies, and science; your children will learn cursive this year! They will also be working towards making their First Reconciliation mid year, and their First Communion towards the end of the year. I am so excited to help foster a love of learning and a love for God in each and every one of them.
Please Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Looking forward to a wonderful year,
Jackie Westervelt
